Winter Healthy Tips

Wishing you all a healthy and happy new year!

Cold and flu season is upon us. Here are some helpful habits to review with your children during the winter months :

  • Eat a healthy diet
  • Keep hydrated (send your child to school with a water bottle every day)
  • Exercise regularly
  • Go to bed early
  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water (hand sanitizer if soap and water not available)
  • Teach children to cough and sneeze into the inner elbow or sleeve area 
  • Use chap-stick or Vaseline to prevent chapped or cracked lips
  • Use hand lotion to keep skin from getting dry
  • No sharing food or drinks
  • No sharing toothpaste, toothbrushes or chap-sticks
  • Teach children how to blow their nose and wash hands after
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth
  • Frequently wipe down surfaces in you home like cell phones, door handles, toilet handles, computer keyboard and/or mouse, remote control
