Cold and flu season is upon us. Here are some helpful habits to review with your children during the winter months :
- Eat a healthy diet
- Keep hydrated (send your child to school with a water bottle every day)
- Exercise regularly
- Go to bed early
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water (hand sanitizer if soap and water not available)
- Teach children to cough and sneeze into the inner elbow or sleeve area
- Use chap-stick or Vaseline to prevent chapped or cracked lips
- Use hand lotion to keep skin from getting dry
- No sharing food or drinks
- No sharing toothpaste, toothbrushes or chap-sticks
- Teach children how to blow their nose and wash hands after
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth
- Frequently wipe down surfaces in you home like cell phones, door handles, toilet handles, computer keyboard and/or mouse, remote control
